The Board met at 8.15 p.m. Present -Messrs J. J. Breeze (chairman), '5 H. Blank, G. Davidson, L. H. Morel, \Y. H. Burrell, H. Monk, J. Ritchie The minutes were confirmed and eoirespondence outward approved inward correspondence. From Railway Department forwaid. jng deed of agreement for crossing Ander railway line.-Received and approved From Department of Health, Wellington, asking for return of estimates for ensuing year- and recommending charges for patients’ maintenance remade £3 3s per week.-Received; Mr 'Davidson objected to the suggested reduction of charges to friendly societies by one half. Mr Blank thought that the proposal was a fair one. Mr Monk was against the concession to f 1 tiux } societies, Mr Ritchie thought friendly societies should pay the same as others Mr Davidson moved that the clause relating to friendly society members b e deleted. Seconded by Mr Monk. Mr Blank moved that the recommendation as iv whole be approved and adopted Seconded by- the Chairman. The amendment was lost Messrs Davidson, Morel, Monk and Ritchie voting against and Messrs Blank, Burrell and Breeze for it. The motion was then put and agreed to. jvj-om Secretary of Health, Wellington, advising lie would be visiting Hokitika on April Ist to advise on drawing un the annual estimates. —Received.
Fi-oin Government Auditor in connection with the balance sheet.- —Received. j.’i-oiii Department of Hospitals, Wellington, approving of advances on account of subsidy, and asking lor pui-ti-ulars of requirement. —Received, Mi Blank, moved that the application be made for an advance of £IOOO on subsidy. Mr Davidson seconded the motion which was agreed to

From Southland Hospital Board, re proposed sanatorium.--Received. From F. Varney, Inspector of Health reiortiing the Government nhialvst jvuh! the water from bore at hospital was good drinking water.—Received. From Dr Brough, stating lie would be unable to visit Kumiira for some time yet.- Received.
from Miss Maokinnon, Kukatnhi. enclosing. £1 result of ball for building fund.—Received with thanks. From Hokitika Borough Council conveying offer for supply of water at Is 6d per 1000 gallons, meters to be installed at cost of hospital. —Received; Mr Davidson moved that the matter be referred to the Chairman and the mover to interview the Council. Tie thought that the Board would he able to obtain quite enough water from t*’e pipes- put down. The Chairman to make a request for the use of the water for (ire purposes.
Mr Blank seconded the motion. He thought the proposal was an excessive one and had told the Council so at the meeting. The Chairman approved of the motion suggesting the Board make an offer of £SO per year. He emphatically protested at the proposed charge of Is fid per IfiOO. Mr Davidson said that £lO per annum was quite sufficient for fire purposes. The motion was a arced to.

From Inangahua Hospital Board stating an offer had been made for a property at Totnrn Flat for an old peoples home.- Received. From A. Key, resigning position as gardener at hospital.—Received and accepted ; applications to he invited.
From Otim Committee forwarding correspondence.—Received; already attended to.
From Kuinara Committee stating the proposal to send doctor from Hokitika to Kuinara when required had not been approved.- -Received. From Sister Gunn, South Westlnm] nurse, reporting -four cases attended during month, one being still attended to.—Received.
A quantity of correspondence denling with maintenance and assistance was received and attended to. From Dr Baird enclosing report on the hospital for year ended 31st. December.—Received. The House Committee reported on the condition of the hospital as satisfactory and a few requirements were asked for.--Received and adopted. Mr Ritehie reported the cows at the hospital were giving every satisfaction. Accounts amopnting to £683 Is 7d wore passed for payment. The Treasurer reported receipts £1536 17s Bd. payments £lll4, Os Bd, debit balance £lOll 4s 4d.—Received. The Board then proceeded to deal with the draft of estimates and adjourned.
