The monthly meeting of the Westland Progress League takes place at 7.3() o'clock to-night. This being the quarterly gathering, some interesting papers will he read. The meeting is open to the public, the attendance, of whom will be welcomed.
A movement is afoot to shift the license olj the accommodation house at the Beai'ey to Arthur’s Pass. The build ing at Bealey belongs to a County Council, and on Saturday members of the Council paid a visit to Arthur’s Pass to select a provisional site for the new accommodation house.
Members of the Canterbury Progress League are taking a special interest in the farmers’ winter school to be held at Hokitika in May nest. The Presidedt rijid Organiser of the Canterbury League will be visitors to Hokitika on the occasion in question, as also a number of young Canterbury farmers who will attend the lectures at the week’s school. A tour of Westland will be arranged also.
The coaches were able to negotiate the washout on the Otira Gorge on Saturday, but the passengers had to alight and walk over the Break. The annual meeting of the Firates Football Club was held on Saturday evening and was attended by a willing number of players all whole-heartedly in favour of putting a team in the field again this year, to endeavour to gain possession of the Fowler Cup, Officers were duly elected a s follows: President—Mr E.
