THURSDAY, MARCH 16th. (Before AVm. Meldrum Esq., S.M.) LICENSING ACT. The police charged a. Ross resident (for whom Mr Pilkington appeared), with being on licensed premises (Pioneer Hotel), while prohibited. Fined 40s and 1 costs 7s. The police charged a local offender with being found on licensed premises, (Dunedin Hotel) during prohibited hours. Convicted and ordered to pay costs 7s. Another resident, charged with being found on Pioneer Hotel, during prohibited hours was convicted and ordered to pay costs 7s. A prohibited person charged with procuring liquor during the currency of a, prohibition order, on March Bth did not appear. Convicted and fined 40s and, casts 7s. WANDERING CATTLE. County Ranger, W. Thomson (Mr Park) v. Wm. O’Connor (Mr Wells), a charge of allowing a calf to wander on main road. Adjourned to next sitting. Casts allowed defendant. Several similar charges were adjourned owing to the Ranger not bepresent. DEBT CASES. L. Gooch, (Mr Murdoch) v. Leonard Crawford claim £l4 Is 4d. Judgment by default for amount with costs £2 18s 6d. Hokitika Harbor Board v. A. McDonald, Llaim £2 Is Bd, rates due. Judgment for amount with costs 4s 6d.
