AMUSEMENTS.

POLLARD’S PICTURES.

“THE HOUSE OF INTRIGUE” TO-NIGHT.

At some time in the life of every individual struggling for existence comes the temptation to acquire some easy money in a manner not according to the ethics of law and honesty. This is the keynote of the RobertsonCole feature “The House of Intrigue” at the Princess Theatre to-night in which the stellar role is admirably sustained by a newcomer to screen stardom, in the person of a celebrated English actress, Peggy May. As the girl who is heroically battling to keep her body and soul together in spite! of

adverse circumstances, and to whom comes sudden temptation to make enough money to ensure her self respect, Miss May is delightfully convincing. The girl ignorantly allies herself with a band of crooks, but realising she is party to theft and forgery, experiences a revulsion of feeling and holds up the band, and goes baick to the struggle for existence penniless. A love story of more than usual interest is interwoven with the plot, and the supporting cast includes such well known names as Mignon Anderson and Donald McDonald. A Co-operative Weekly, “When the Wind Blows” comedy, and n. beautiful Pathe Scenic “In and Around San Diego,” completes a. first-rate Dill of fare.
