QUESTION OF RECIPROCITY

(Received This Dav at 9.40 a.m.) SYDNEY, March 11

A visiting New Zealand journalist, in an article in the “Daily Telegraph” commenting on the Dominion Minister of Customs visit, states much bitterness exists in New Zealand over trade relationships with Australia arising out of Australia’s denial to New Zealand of preference in the tariff which New ZcaI land afforded Australia, lie says the j comradeship of the war did away with | the old time misunderstandings, which existed prior to that time and it seems a sad thing that through whispered bickerings in trade tliis great undertaking should be confused and threatened with relegation to the dust of past misunderstanding, yet such is the case. Animosities of the past are being resurrected with all their wicked feeling against Australians. New Zlealand is almost* as hostile as before the war. Happily there is a chance of adjustment. The writer expresses the hope that the visit of tlfc New Zealand Minister will lead to an understanding which will prove enduring.
