An accident occurred oil Tuesday to Mr Wallace, employed a.t Jackson’s sawmill, liiangalum. It appears that lie was walking along a log when he tripped and the axe he was carrying fell oil his hand, severing one finger and cutting another badly. He came into Reefton and was taken to the Hospital, whereat was found| necessary to amputate the second finger. The patient is progressing satisfactorily.
i The Hon Minister of Public Works travelled yesterday from Wtestport to Greymouth by the bench route via Barry town, where he was entertained. The party arrived at Greymouth late in the evening, but deputations were taken. This morning the Ministerial party under the escort of the Grey County Council proceeded to Lake i Brunner by the t)tira express. On arrival at Moana the party took launches and crossed the lake to Mitchells where road works were to be inspected. The party then motored into Kuniara via the north Teremakau settlement. The Grey County Council entertained tine Minister at lunch at Kuniara, and dur- i ing the afternoon Hon Coates and party I will’ motor into Hokitika. The Hon | Minister will stay at Keller’s Hotel, and i at 7.30 to-night deputations will be j taken at the County Chamber's. The Ministerial party will leave for South Westland at 8 o’clock to-morrow morning, lunching at Hari Hari, with Okarito the destination for the night. I
