POLLARD'S PICTURES,

MONDAY

A great melo-drama., a. great comedy, a great spectacle, in Mack Sennett’s first picture for Associated Producers. “A Small Town Idol,” next Monday evening. Shakespeare’s “the play’s f thing,” seems to have been one of the two guiding principles for Mack Sen- [ nett when he produced “A Small Town Idol,” his newest super-production. The other stellar light upon which he had one eye focussed was, of course,' comedy. is a harmonious blending of story interest and humour which stamps this production a the comedy king’s supreme oreation. “A Small Town Idol” has all the well-known players in itscast, including Ben Turpin Phyllis Haver, Marie Prevost, Charlie Murray and James Finlayson in the leading roles. Spectacle and thrills add their attractions to “A Small Town Idol.” The biggest scene that Mack Sennett has devised, and one of the largest that has eve/r been filmed, is flashed on the ; screen. In this multitude of girls, who conform in every respect to the famous Sunnett specifications for beauty and figure, appear in Oriental costumery. Ben Turpin is the “idol” indicated by the title. That is, lie ultimately proves himself such, after a series- of trem r dously comic, not to mention some serious, situations. The latest Patlie Gazette and a Pictqgraph giving the latest events from alll parts of the world will also lie shown.
