Messrs Matson and Co. report as follows regarding their slock sale yesterday.:— Store Sheep.—Another large yarding, mostly made up of all classes of ewes, including a large proportion of travelled ewes which were hard to sell, and in most cases showed a decided drop. Pest young local owes made up to 21 s 9d ; best sound mouth local ewes from 17s to 20s 6d; medium sorts from 11s to 14e Od; inferior and travelled from 8s to 10s (id. Best wethers from
14s fid to 17s 2d; others from 11s fid. Best rape lambs from 13s to 16s 2d; others from 9s fid to Pis ; culls front -is fid.
.Store Cattle.—A fair yarding, but really no quotable lines and bidding was \ cry irregular, but tho demand for any well bred young cattle seemed to be rather firmer. 3 and 4 year old steers £4 to £4 15s; 2 years ditto, 40s to £3 ss; yearlings 15s to 355; 2 year old: heifers up to £4 ; yearlings ditto, 35s to 455; cows £1 5s to £1 17s fid. Beef.—A large yarding, including some of outstanding quality. Best sorts maintained last week’s, rates. All other quality, on the other hand showed an easier tendency. Several lots were passed at auction. Prime steers £lO lOs to £l4; extra to Cl 9 ss; medium £8 to £lO os; others £fi 5s to £7 15s; prime heifers Cfi to £8 10s; others £4 to £5 15s; prime cows £5 10s to £8 ss; /others £3 5s to £5 os. Mutton.—Another very heavy yarding, the sale continuing till late. Some really good quality and very heavy ewes ind wethers were yarded. The market was easier all round, heavy ewes especially showing a decline. Medium ■and light weight wethers and ewes showed' little difference, as freezing buyers w.e;'e operating throughout on that class. Prime wethers 20s to 25s fid; extra good to 29s 9d; medium 17s fid to 19s fid; others 15s fid to Ifis lOd ; prime ewes L3s (id to 17s; a tew extra good o 19s; medium lls to 13s. Lambs .vere slightly easier, especially for medium and inferior sorts. Prime lambs showed little dilleruce.
