A WIDOW MURDERED. AUSTRALIAN ANI) N. 7.. CARLE ASSOCIA t lON <Received This Day at 9.40 a.m.) LONDON, March 7. The epidemic of crimes of violence continues. Mrs Sarah Blake, a widow, keeper of the Crown and Anchor inn at Henley, was found with her throat- cut, and head battered. The motive is a mystery, as about £SOO sterling, in an unlocked box, was untouched.
ANOTHER TRAGEDY. LONDON, March 7
A tragedy is also reported m a fashionable flat at Fulsham. The body of a young woman, Gertrude Gates, known as Olive Young, was discovered in a bathroom, gagged, with her throat cut and head battered. A man who is a frequent visitor, left hurriedly in the morning, telling the maid not to disturb Gates, who was sleeping.
A DOUBLE TRAGEDY. (Received This Day at 10.15 a.m J LONDON, March <■ i A double tragedy occurred at Woodgreen, Hampshire. A .voung couple was found dead in lied in a bungalow which thev occupied alone. Partially emptied glasses of wine were alongside the bed. The couple were apparently wealthy. The man was an ex-soldier, Vincent Quinn. The woman has not been identified.
