The strike at Johannesburg is now reaching a crisis. Over one thousand strikers have returned to work. An all-night sitting of the men’s Federation decided on fresh negotiations direct with the Chamber of Mines.

Eater the Chamber declined the overture from the miners, and they announced that they will not recognise tlie Miners’ Federation in future, hut will instead recognise' the men’s separate unions. The Executive of the Men’s Federation have decided to take a ballot on the question of returning ,to work on the Chamber of Mines’ terms, pending the findings of the Parliamentary Commission.
