The residents of the Stillwater locality, realising his and Mrs Fowler’s many good qualities, gathered together and decided to make them a presentation in retognition of their services. Laffy) after paying a high tribute to the guests oi Ihe evening, presented them with a solid silver tea and cofllee service, and an oak tray. Many neat speeches by local residents and sjiorts accompanied the gift, all re-echoing the sentiments of the large number present. Mr Fowler, on risi» - to reply, was greeted with rounds of applause. He thanked the people for their beautiful presents, stating that it had at all times been his ambition to kelp all. At this stage Mr Laffy took the opportunity of extending a hearty welcome to Mr and Mrs Richardson. Mr Richardson will fill Mr Fowler’s vacancy at Stillwater. Musical items were interspersed throughout the dance programme, Messrs James and Laffy contributing excellent items.
