Train Cuts.
MINISTER ON THE SAVINGS
WELLINGTON, Feb. 27
In connection with the recent curtailment of express sendees in both islands the Hon. D. IL Guthrie, Act-ing-Minister of Railways, states that no complaints have (been received and the effect on the revenue must be to the good, ns the former expresses cost total receipts from full trains were about £4-50 per journey, although the only £350 and they were usually only half filled!. .Some revision of South Island branch line time tables is under consideration with a view to making beitter connectiions with existing expresses, but district traffic managers and engineers find some difficulty in securing a satisfactory revision.
