PRINCESS MARY
PRESENT FROM MARYS OF EMPIRE. AUSTRALIAN AND XCaBI.K ASSOCIATION. LONDON, Feb. 23. The Marys of the Empire have given Princess Mary a beautiful rope of pearls. About £BOOO was subscribed. The Princess at first asked that all the money be given to some philanthropise object. Then she expressed a wish that only a few hundred be spent on jewellery for herself, and the rest devoted to a training camp for tlie leaders, and a, hospital camp lor the girls requiring country rest. The Princess thus hopes to benefit the movement, extending it to all Dominions, and touching the entire girlhood of the Empire. Owing, however, to the general wishes of the subscribers the organisers have spent considerable more upon a personal present than t!o Princess has suggested. The roi>e of pearls falls to her waist. It is made -of beautiful pearls, the same size and colour as the shorter necklet that is familiar in the .Princess’ photographs. _ •
