which tlie Springboks -ompiAed was largely attended. The weather was overcast with intdrßiftlent rain, but i the track 'was 'excellent. Twenty-three events were disposed of, the visitors competing in five from scratch. They lmd to concede too much in the handicap. The district competitors nevertheless put up wonderful performances. In tlie SSOyds Leathern ran beautifully. coming fifth. The final in tlie 100yds was very exciting. Unites, who secured a good start won in 9 4-ssecs. Hie received an ovation. The same runner finished fast in sixth position in the 300vds. In, the final of the 440 yds Johnston finished fifth. The relay race was won, by the Springboks easily. Bukes sprinted finely at the finish. Results of the various events the visitorscompeted in are : 880yds Handicap: E. Weggery (65 j

Time, 3min 50secs. Won by 60 yards; a similar distance between second and third. Tlie visitors were entertained by the Manawatu Amateur Athletic Club at a dance in tlie evening.
