The Hector Observatory reports that a.ltiH' a period of quiescency there are again signs of considerable activity in the sun. Two spot groups of moderate area have been visible for the past few days ,and during the week-end both groups have grown to an abnormal size, indicating an enormous outburst of solar energy. One spot is approaching the western limb, but the other is more favourably placed for observation, being nearer thy centre of the sun’s disc.
