GREYMOUTH V. HOKIITKA

The first of this season’s inter-club fixtures between the Grey mouth and Hokitika Tennis Clubs was held on the Greymouth courts on Saturday. Beautiful weather conditions prevailed, and a large assemblage of spectators was present during the afternoon. Pia> commenced in the morning and continued throughout the day with an hour’s adjournment for lunch. Refreshments were provided during the day to visitors and players, and the thanks ot the Club are due to the lady members of the Club who assisted in this connection. The match was a most enjoyable one, and though the games and sets show a considerable majority in favour of the Greymouth team, a large proportion of tlie games were most interesting.

CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 19. The Wilding Shield match concluded on Saturday in perfect weather. Canterbury defeated Wellington by ten matches to two. The only Wellington player to win on Saturday was Parker, who defeated Wilding in straight sc*s. after being I—4 in the second. SaTmond gav a good exhibition against Greenwood. Ollivicr, who made few mistakes, outclassed Swanston. Scores: Singles.—O'llivier beat Swanston, i o—o ;‘Greenwood beat Salmond (i—2, o—t; Wilding lost to Parker o —B, 5 —7; Aitken beat Andrews 3 —6, o—o, fi—2.
