The athletic meeting, which was held in honour of the visit of the four Springboks: Messrs Oosterlaak, Btikes Leathern and Emery, proved very successful. The weather was fine arid there wag a good attendance. The visitors put up a good showing hut the local handicap proved a big obstacle in the 100 yards. Bukes who won the second heat was unplaced in the final. Six hundred yards: Leathern 4th. Seventy-five yards. Poverty Bay championship. A good race, Oosterlaak beating Makes by two feet. Time 7 4-5 sec®. 300 yards was won by Oosterlaak, Bakes coming second. Time 32 4-5. sees. Leathern annexed the 1000 yards winning by 15 yards in 2min 22 1-5 secs. The relay race was won easily by Poverty Bay owing to the visitors dropping the baton.
