WEST COAST BOWLING TOURNAMENT.
OPENED TO-DAY.
The West Coast Bowling Tournament was opened this morning ill fine weather on the Hokitika Bowling Club's ground. The green rolled out fast arid true and promises to give every satisfaction. The opening ceremony was a brief one. Mr R. S. Galbraith (President of the Hokitika Club) expressed his pleasure at the large number of visitors present and hoped that the tournament would prove an enjoyable one and that the best team would win. The green had received careful attention and he trusted it woud prove satisfactory to all He had pleasure in handing over the green to Mr Ring and his executive for the duration of the tournament.
Mr James Ring (Greymouth) Chairman of the West Coast Bowling Centre Executive, accepted charge of the beautiful green with pleasure. He thanked the President for the hearty welcome and felt sure that the players present would* have a very successful and enjoyable gathering. The gong then sounded for 9 o’clock and play in the first round of the rink championship commenced. The players are as follows: WESTPORT.— J. McLeod, J. Rose, E. R. Cameron, F. Blaxall (s). J.
