; The Mayor has proclaimed a public holiday for Wednesday next (Excursion Day). The adjourned meeting to form a Cycling Sports Club will be held to-night at 7.30 o'clock at Keller’s sample rooms. All interested in the revival of J sports are requested to attend: The date of the illustrated) lecture on ■ “Samoa and other islands of the Paci- ; fiq” by the, Hon H. L. Michel, M.Li.C. in aid of the funds of the Hokitika Beautifying Association, has been fixed for Wednesday Feb. 22nd at 8 p.m.
Mr H. Belsliavv, 8.A., F.R.E.S. permanent tutor to the Workers’ Educa--tional Association, West Coast Centro is at present in Hokitika for the purpose of organising classes in connection with the above association. He is also endeavouring to arrange for a Winter School for farmers, teachers and W.E.A. students to be held some time in May. The local Progress League is co-operating with the W.E.A. in this schem e . A very smart lot of Jersey jumpers, American crepe de chine jumpers, also pinafore blouses suitable for the holidays are creating a great demand at Schroder and Co’s; who also stock a fine range of ladies’ hose, and silk underwear.— Advt
