ATTEMPTED MURDER. DUNEDIN, February 11. Joseph Switalla wa,s arrested and charged with attempted murder of his step-brother Jacob Switalla by Detective Beer and Constable Southgate at Kuribush yesterday afternoon. It is alleged that the accused while drunk, struck his stepbrother, who was lying on a couch, with an axe, and inflicted severe injuries to the head and shoulders. When Switalla was brought before the Court it developed that the affair happened away back on Xmas Eve at Allanton, but the police only heard of it a couple of days ago. The injured man is now recovered. Accused was remanded to Monday.
