WELLINGTON, Feb. 8. The Legislative Council met at 2.30
p.in. The Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment Bill was received from tiie House, was read a first time, ,r„d second time proforma, and referred to the Labour Bills Committee. The Council rose at 2.30 p.m.
The Council resumed at 4 p.m. Avhen the Labour Bills Committee reported the Arbitration Amendment Bill Avithout amendment. Tiie Council rose at 4.30 p.m.
THE HOUSE
The Legislative Council met at 2.30. The House spent the Avhole evening sitting discussing the Meat Export Bil which Avas read a second time and the first clause passed committee. The House rose at 2 a.m. till noon.
OPPOSITION UNITE. NEW PARTY. FORMED. WELLINGTON, Feb. 9. A fusion of Liberal Labour Party, National Progressive and Moderate Labour Party, and a number of Opposition members outside the section led by Mr Holland, lias amalgamated into a new party to be known as the United Progressive Liberal Labour Party. Hon T. Wilford is leader of the new Party, and an executive lias been elected as follows :—Messrs Statham, Veiteh, Masters, Forbes, Ngata and Sidey.
