Mr Harding continued —“I once believed in and advocated armed preparedness, but I have come to believe there is better preparedness in the public mind and world opinion made ready to grant justice. It may be that the naval holiday will expire with the treaties but I do not believe it, since this conference has pointed the way to peace A like conference in future may ’ illumine human activity. To Belgium, the British Empire, China, France, Italy, Japan, Netherlands and Portugal I can wish no more than the same feeling which we experienced of the honourable contribution to a happy human advance and the new sense of security in righteous pursuits of peace.” VANCOUVER., February 6.
