A benefit cricket match for Frank Iredale, the old-time rep., is being played between the Australian XL against' the rest of Australia. It commenced to-day in fine weather on a good wicket. Armstrong captained Australia, this being his last appearance in big cricket.

The rest of Australia in the first inn-; ings made 393. O’Keefe scored 177, Love 28, Bardour 20, Willis 133, and Lampard (not out) 21. In the bowling Gregory took 7 for 95, and McDonald 2 for 95.

O’Keefe played a brilliant and chanceless innings. His score was principally gained by the power of his driving. He made practically only one bad stroke. Willis also batted attractively, scoring at a rapid rate.
