Bell moved the second reading which was agreed to after debate, of the Harbours Amendment Bill and was committed. The following new sub-clause was added to Clause 3 The Board ipay ,make by-laws for the prqlubitiqn or .regulation or use of stqaipers, sailing vessels, and vessel of any descriptions upon waters under its control, ;tnd for regulating upon such .wafers and upqn foreshore n,iul hanks of such waters, on the occasion pf boat races, yacht races, .launch rapes or swimming rae s , and may itself make changes or authorise any Sports Association to niaJre charges for admission to specific parts of such waters, foreshore aud ba,nks on the occasion of such .races. The Bdl as amended was passed. In Comipittee .on ,the .Divorce and Capses Amendment, Hon. T.rigg? .moved .to ppeyent divorce under .'clause 4 of the 1920 Aot being secured, where fhe.re lia s been voluntary reparation. Sir F- did pot ..think it desirable to accept .the amendment Separations, whether judicial or voluntary, came from same reason of inability .of the parties to agree. The: amendment was defeated hy 24 to 5. The Bill as amended yesterday W a s passed. The Arms Amendment Bill was put through ,fhe final .stages and passed. The Housing Bill was reported with amendments by the Statutes Revision Committee The -Council decided ,to insist ,pn the amendments made by it to the Animals Protection and Game Bill.
The Companies Temporary Empowering Bill was put through the fina] stages and passed. The Council adjourned at 4.29 pan.
THE HOUSE. The House mot at 2.30 panJn tho House the following Bills were passed—Native Rand Amendment pud Native Land ,Claim Adjustment Bill; Urewera Lauds Bill; Government Railways Amendment Rill; Discharged Soldiers Settlement Amendment Bill. The Meat Export Control .Creating Meat Pool was introduced by the Premier and read a first time. Hon. J. G. Coates moved the second reading of the Tramway Amendment Bill, but the .opposition was so great tha,t the debate wa s adjourned. Tfie H°use rose at 11.28 p.m. till 11.30 a.m. next morning
