A magistrate with a body of armed police arrested a number of extremists engaged in intimidation methods. A crowd of two thousand sub rounded the magistrate, and etofied th e police, knocking the superintendent senseless. The .police fired blank ammunition without effect, and after other warnings proved • fUtile they fil'ed buck-shot, then ball cartridges, and dispersed the crowd, killing four and wounding six. At Calcutta the police raided extremist’s offices, and arrested 165, including the leaders. It is reported that the civil disobedience movement has started in a number of districts, and that the extremists aim ati making the movement general. THE PRINCE IN INDIA. DELHI, Feb 1. The .Prince of Wales has arrived at Indore for a two day’s visit. The population gathered along the route and gave him a hearty welcome as he drove with the Maharajah through the city. There were no signs of anything in the shape of a boycott or dissatisfaction. Th c usual elaborate State functions followed. The Prince attends a durbar to-morrow to meet eighteen ruling prin ees and chiefs of Central India.
