HOKITIKA HARBOUR BOARD

TUESDAY, JAN. 31st.

The Board met at 4 p.m. Present: Messrs G. A. Wood (Chairman), C. J. Nightingale, J. Lloyd, F. McGregor, T. fv. Bruce and M. Honston.

The minutes of the previous meeting ryere read and confirmed and outward correspondence approved. INWARD C'ORRESPONPENCE.

From Pine Mills Ltd., enclosing cheque for rent for studs. —Received. From- Shipwreck Relict Society, Dunedin, thanking Board for donation. Received.

From W. L. Dave, enclosing cheque for rates.—Received.

From Forest and Williams, Fergusons, enclosing cheque for rent of winch.—Received.

From Andersons, Ltd., Christchurch, re excavating machinery.—Received. From A. Boake, Roberts and Co., London, regarding disinfectants.—Received.

From Income Tax Department, re | interest on debentures. —Received. From Acting Harbour Master, reporting the channel was running straight to sea, soundings 13 feet in the channel with an average depth oi 11 feet for the last 16 days.— Received. From Audit Office, Wellington, certifying the correctness of the balance sheet for Dec. 31st, 1920, and asking for printed copy; also acknowledging receipt of balance sheet 1921, and asking for copy.—Received. The Audit Inspector (Mr Ralston) gave a detailed explanation of the condition of the rate books and the amount of work involved in the audit. The Board unanimously thanked Mr Ralston for his information. Accounts amounting to general account 621 IPs lOd, Audit Department £316 1.7 s fid were passed for payment. Payments since last meeting £lO L2s 7d, receipts £IBB 14s lOd, Bank N.Z. credit' £456 ss, cash in hand £9 7s fid.—Received. !t was resolved to charge a small ient.nl on all boats stored in the sheds, same to be stored at owner’s risk. It- was resolved to have the balance sheets printed and the usual nunibei obtained. It was resolved that a number of defaulting ratepayers be proceeded against forthwith. This concluded the business and the meeting adjourned.
