In consequence of armed gangs creating ft reign of terror! in several southern districts of Ireland, where they have carried out many robberies and hold-ups, the Irish {Republican Army Force has declared martial law over a large part of Tipperary. The proclamation is a, more drastic one than any British proclamation issued during the recent warfare in Ireland. It makoß the unauthorised possession of arms an offence that may be pui*ishable by, death. The Killarney Justices have handed over control of the town to the Republican Army officers in order to frustrate depredations by some armed marauders who are located in the mountains. DE VALERA’S AIM. (Received This Day at 8.30 a.m.l . PARIS, Jan. 30. De Valera interviewed by the “Echo de Paris” stated his policy was to bring about the complete independence of Ireland. He was going to work to make the Irish Republic recognised by the different European Governments.
