AVELLINGTON, Jan 27 THE COUNCIL.

The Legislative Council met at 2.30 i.m.

Sir F. D. Bell moved the second reading of the Public Expenditure Adjustment ill which was agreed to after debate. The Bill was then put through the final stages and passed.

The Council determined to insist on the amendments made by it in the Shops and Offices Bill. The Council rose from the evening sitting at 9.48 p.m.

THE HOUSE,

The House met at 2.30 p.m

After formal business was disposed of in the House, the Minister of Public AVorks laid on the table the Public AVorks Estimate*).

Discussion was continued until 2.34 -j.m. when the votes were passed and the House rose till 2.30 p.m. on Monday.
