RACING NEWS.

[by TKLEGRAPH—PEII PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON R.C, MEETING. WELLINGTON, January 26. After the Consoitaion Handicap yesterday, an enquiry was held into the handling of Egotism. The Judicial Committee, while not satisfied with G. Young’s riding, decided to take no action, as it was quite possible that the carrying of the starting tapes round the course by the winner, Cruoelle, may have interfered with the field. A protest, which was entered by Mr McKenzie, owner of Meresonta, was dismissed as the stewards failed to find that interfernce had taken place.

In the inquiry into the cause of St Augustuses fall in the Ruapehu Handicap, the stewards found that the evidence pointed to the fact that the horse got on the heels of another horse in front. It wa s decided to recommend that the stewards not accept entries for the horse in future, as it is subject to fits of staggers.
