After a handwriting expert had examined 200 of the anonymous letters received in the town of Lille (cabled on January 2), he compelled eight suspected women to write passages dictated from the letters. A movement hasj been started throughout -China to raise funds for the purchase of Shantung railway. The leaders of the Government presented to the president a recommendation that a domestic loan of thirty million yen be raised for- the purpose.
