MISSING BOY FOUND. | GISBORNE, Jan. 24. ,
The missing boy Clare, was, found this morning two miles in the hush, well, despite, liis long exposure. Elis legs were swollen, but he soon recovered.

Two American youths, James Jerome Davis and' John Franft Kenner whre sentenced to seven days’ imprisonment for being idle ajnct disorderlj;, and were lemanded to Wellingtop for sentence on three charges .of evading payment of a fare on the Government .railway,. of failing tp register as aliens and landing in the Dominion without a passport. Accused were arrested here on January 18th and said they stowed away on the Westhislop on November 12th, at fean Francisco and were put ashore at Honolulu. There they stowed on the Mahura* and on; arrival at Auckland evaded the police and got ashore. Later they walked to Otahuhu and then rode on a" freight train to Frankton, Teawamutu, Tekuiti and Taumarunui in a van. In search of work from Taumarunui they came, to Palmerston North.' Several cases of fruit in the waggon used by the accused, were not touched. .
RAILWAY EMPLOYEES ATTITUDE, WANGANUI, Jan. 24.
Railway employees at Eastown workshops were in an angry mood to-day when they held a meeting during the luncheon adjournment to discuss the proposed retrenchment. The whistle sounded at 12.30, but the men took not the slightest notice, and remained another lo minutes, until the business under review bad' been completed. Delegates were appointed to a mass meeting of civil servants here to-mor-row evening. A resolution was carried that the meeting supports the Executive Council in any action they may deem necessary to retain the present rate of wages.
MOUNTAIN CLIMBER’S DEATH. WELLINGTON, Jan. 23
Harold William Freeman, of Tinakori Road, Wellington, while with a mountaineering party, collapsed on Sunday afternoon on Mount Alpha, near Otaki, during heavy weather. He was carried unconscious to a hut, and there succumbed.

Power and Light Committee oi the City Council, informed a “Daily Times” reporter to-day that he had some reason to believe that the Government was about to accept the City Council’s terms, and when tire estimate r.ai.ie down, which lie understood would be ibis week, provision would be made for the erection of this high tension line. Questioned as to the route which the line would follow, Councillor Shackled; said this was as yet undecided, but’ would probably skirt the town, somewhere in the neighbourhood of Half-Way Bush.
WELLINGTON’S ANNIVERSARY DAY. WELLINGTON, Jan. 23.
The Anniversary Day holiday was celebrated to-day. The weather conditions were not auspicious, a southerly wind bringing up sleet and rain. Large crowds proceeded to the races and regatta ,and various functions were Held at tlie seaside resorts. Additional interest was taken in the regatta oy ieasori of tlie appearance of tlie GovernorGeneral’s Iroii Duke, which was sailed by his Excellency in the one-design class. Claire overhauled Iron Duke on tho windward beat. Iron Duke also competed in tlie centre-board class. She was prominent in the early stages, but faded away.
