ELAINE H AMMEItSTEIN—TONIGHT.
Colourful and sympathetic and at the same time, thoroughly convincing is Elaine fiammerstem’s interpretation of the arduous stellar role in her (atast Selzniek production, “Pleasure Seekers” at the Princess Theatre to-night. The young bride’s strategy in sur-
I mounting the prejudices of her young I husabnd’s father against herself and i womankind, is at once charming and ■ amusing; •in direct contrast is t>ho star’s work in the more highly dra- | matic moments, such as the big scene ! where she visits her rival’s home and ! persuades her husband to return to her | and .give up the wandering habit, for j in this she rises to heights of intensity i that none of her previous productions j 11 live contained. Elaine Hammerstein j has qualified bv hard work and good. 1 for the title of star, and no picture I emphasised this more than this pie 1 sent one. Supporting this picture is* a j Topical Budget, Pathe Review and a [ two reel comedy.. j On Thursday Pollards are screening another double star programme headed by a Metro feature “Hearts are : Trumps” starring Ellen Terry and Cei cile Raleigh and “Brothers Divided” a | five reel Pathe feature starring Frank Keenan. “Brothers Divided” rjeycals Frank Keenan, veteran actor and tried . and popular favourite, in widely di- . vergent roles of two brothers of (opncn\ic character; one is a mill owner and r slave driver, the other an ex-convict , whose prison experiences have taught him that good deeds and kind words get a man more out of life than selfishness and a nasty temper. Of coiirsje everyone knows that moral point, but it takes a picture like .this one to bring that- point forcibly home, a fid in the hands of an actor like Frank Eeenan the moral is made ,to get under the skin without any appearance of flaunting or tub-thumping. “Brothers Divided” is wholesome and timely and has a sure object that should be welcomed everywhere. :ra ;£
