n.l.l'.fC'.AlVl HOSPITALS BILL. WELLINGTON, January 20. [t is understood that some of the larger hospital boards have intimated to the Minister for Health that they recognise that it would be of benefit to the hospital boards to have tlie advice and counsel of departmental officers when appointments arc made aiul have suggested that instead of a right to approve or disapprove of appointme’nts as is suggested in the bill, the Minister shoiild take power' to appoint Government representatives on the hospital boards who would have the opportunity of representing the departmental point of view with regard to appointments. It is stated that the Auckland board in particular favour this and that it is acquiesced in by the Wellington and the Dunedin boards. The Minister yesterday that he did not favour the proposal, and would suggest another course, which he hoped would satisfy all parties.
