“ Overthrow of Capital.”
AUSTRALIAN WORKERS’ UNION PROPOSAL. SYDNEY. Jan. 11. A number of further motions of an extreme character have been received for discussion at the Australian Work- ' ers' Union Conference, which will meet j in 'Sydney in a fortnight’s time. Among them are the following:— ! That an international Conference be held in Sydney, to which delegates be , invited from Europe, America, and the Moscow Third International, to discuss international organisation, the abolition of conscription, the overthrow of capitalism and the setting up of an industrial Socialistic republic. That the A.W.U. Convention draw up a model scheme of arbitration for New South Wales and demand the Labour Government to place it on the Statute Book. j That no member of a Masonic institution bo eligible to hold office in the A.W.U. That Mr H. E. Boote, editor of the “Worker,” write a history of tlie European war from a Labour viewpoint, at the cost of the Government, and that if necessary lie be sent to America, Englan Pd, and Europe to obtain complete | pioof and data, and be provided with j necessary assistance abroad; and that 1 the history he writes should be taught I in the State schools. f That in view of the treatment meted j out to the A.W.U. by Mr Justice Powers in the pastoral case, the dismissal of the judge be demanded. That the A.W.U. immediately start an anti-war campaign before the War Precautions Act stops such a cam- j paign. _ j That the conference declares itself in ' favour of the total prohibition of the manufacture, sale or Importation of i any spirituous liquors. 1 I r .toot
