WRECK ENQUIRY. ißeceived Tin's Dav at 9.40 a.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 21 At tlie inquiry into tlie wreck of tlie Karitane, the evidence of Captain Spain and Chief Officer Dowling, showed that the former, at 5.40 in the morning set a course to take the steamer between Deal Island anti Wright’s Rock. He then went below. The weather was intermittently foggy. At 7.25 when the fog was very dense, Dowling called the Captain and reported he had sighted Deal Island. Immediately the Captain reached the deck, the ship struck. The inquiry was adjourned.
