The House met at 2.30 p.m. In committee, the discussion of the Estimates continued. The item, naval defence £335,782, was passed after an amendment by Mr Witty to reduce the vote by £lO, was defeated by 55 to 10.

On the item,' military forces and cadets £367,043, Mr Holland moved a reduction by £200,000. This was defeated by 46 to 12. Mr R. W. Smith moved a reduction 'by £l. This was lost by 37 to 23 a(nd the rest of the class was -passed unchallenged.
