Messrs Matson and Co. report as follows regarding their slock sale yesterday:— Store sheep.—A comparatively small yarding, mostly wethers, with a failnumber of rape lambs offering. In face of the marked improvement of fat sheep and lambs, combined with recent good rains, the market showed a decided improvement all round. Best rape lines from 11s 6d to 14s, others from 7s to 10s (sd; best wethers from 10s 6d to 12s others from 7s to 9s 3d; best two-tooth owes, from 10s 6d to 12s 6d; four-booth ewes from lls to 13s 7d.
Store cattle.—A small entry, mostly nondescript lots and really no quotable lines were offered. The demand was generally better than the previous sale. Beef —The smallest yarding for some considerable time, and th 0 quality was decidedly better all round. The market showed a good advance on the last week being quite 30s to 40s per head rise. Primest steers £l2 to £ls; extra to £l7; medium £8 to £11; others down to £5. Prime heifers £7 10s to £9 12s; others' £4 15s to £7; prime cows £5 15s to £9; others £3 to £5 sa. Mutton.— A similar yarding to last weekly, mostly ewes. The market was much firmer, wethers showing an advance of Is 6d td 2e 6d, and ewes up to Is. Freezing buyers were again operating .keenly for good quality and light weights,, butchers, securing all heavy sorts. ( Prime wethers 19s to 23s 6d, extra st> 26s| 6d medium 16s 4d to m 6d; yQ%rs ,13s fid to, 16b 9d.
