DEATH FROM EXPOSURE
DUNEDIN, Jan. 17. Catherine McDonald, 45 years, who escaped from a Hospital a week ago was found early this morning at the foot of an embankment in Queen’s Drive. Site was still alive when found but died before a doctor came, from exposure. RESERVED JUDGMENT. AUCKLAND, Jan. 17. At the Magistrate’s Court to-day, Mr Wilson S-M-, delivered judgment for the defendant jockey Geo. Young in Ithe claim by the Jockey’s Association for £4l 3s 9d, the annual fee and percentage of earnings by riding winners, the plea of infancy being upheld. Lie Magistrate held that though defendant was benefited by membership of the Association, he could not say that membership was necessary to defendant for earning his livelihood. The only contracts to which an infant could be held were such contracts which were necessary for life, food, clothing i lodging, marriage and apprenticeship | of service. Security for an appeal was ; secured at £ls. j
