[by telegraph—per press association] WELLINGTON, Jan. 13 THE COUNCIL. The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m. Sir F. D. Bell gave notice of the Divorce and Matrimonial Causes Amendment Bill. He also introduced a Loan 'Companies Bill which was read i second time proforma, and referred to the Statutes Revision Committee. The Shops and Offices Bill and Land Valuaion Amendment Bill was read a second

time and referred to committees. Sir F. D. Bell moved the second reading of the Animals Protection and Game Bill, which was agreed to after dehate.

THE HOUSE. The House met at 2.30 p.m

I The House spent the whole of the sitting discussing the estimates. Pensions £136,834, Mines £54,583, Internal Affairs £416,738, Mental Hospitals and Health Departments £469,660 and a number of smaller votes were passed. „ The House rose, at 1.12 a.m. till 7.30 p.m. on Monday.
