Ifiie Health Inspector and myself, after ten day’s dry weather, inspected the water hole in Sewell Street north, complained of some months ago. We found the same to have become'stagnant and cannot possibly drain. This certainly now requires attention.

Since your last meeting in company with the Health Inspector, I have inspected a number of premises, where a clean up was required and.it has been attended to. WATER, SUPPLY. I have to report that the goose neck pipe has been fitted to the intake at the reservoir at a height of about sft. Gin. I arranged for a test of the supply from the lake, which was done on the Bth. in the presence of the Town Clerk, Overseer, J. Cutbush and myself. The test showed an inflow of 112$ gallons per minute. This quantity of water is evidently leaving the reservoir for town, as since the repairs were effected by the staff last month, a test showed the reservoir to hold 5 feet •of wtater for 10 hours with a, drop, or loss of i inch, as compared with a drop of 3$ inches in 4 hours previous to repairs. During the holidays, it was necessary for me to convey the supply through the sump during the day, for the purpose of holding in reserve for night use the water in the reservoir. This required morning and night trips to the reservoir. At present, I am testing the various sections of the town and find that so far the South Western portion (that is from Hampden Street to the Quay and Sewell Street to Revell Street aiffeets the reservoir to the greatest extent.—Received. The Mayor stated that there were 162,000 gallons per day going into the reservoir which was sufficient to supply 65 to 70 gallons per head per day for a population of 2,500. That there was 200 gallons per minute being delivered within 30 chains of the reservoir. The Borough Inspector was now making an inspection of each separate section in the Borough, with a view to locating leakages and it was also intended to lift a cast iron pipe the reservoir to see if the fault lay there. He considered the supply was ample and that the shortage was accountable by leakage or wastage.

Mr Perry moved that the dog registration fee be 10s and 2s 6d. Seconded by Mr Lloyd, Mr Wood moved an amendment that the fee be 5s and 2s 6d Seconded by Mr Blank and lost. The motion was then carried. Mr Wood and Mr Blank dissenting. The Council then rose.
