A meeting of the committee of the Westland Racing Club was held last evening. Present: Messrs Williams (chair), McGregor, Rutland, Bruce, Yarrall, Whilev, Houston, Mclntosh, Sellers, Peake and Evans. A motion was adopted in regard to the appointment of' racecourse inspectors. The action of the Secretary in writing regarding racing dates was approved. A report was received in respect to repairs to the racing track. It was resolved to close same for repairs, and to open the new training track for training purposes. Drainage with field pipes for experimental purposes was approved, and it was decided to procure suitable soil for topdressing. Some plant for track repairs was authorised, and it was decided to have the electric light installed in the totalisator house for the Easter meeting. The following members were elected: Messrs R. Perliam, J. J. Morgan, J. Butler, J. Delaney, and J. Coleman. A request for the use of the grass mower on Cass Square was mentioned, and it was resolved to offer on behalf of the Club to keep the grass cut all the year round, as a donation to the town. The caretaker was instructed to proceed at once with track repairs, the work to lie done as expeditiously as possible.
