[BY TEUEGEAPH—DE& PEESB ASSOCIATION] TOURNEY OPENS. DUNEDIN, Jah 1C For the ninth annual championship tournament of the New Zealand Bowling Association, which commenced today, tho weather was cold. Rain, fell the previous day and night, and this rendered the greb'ris heavy, necessitating a delay in the start of [flay; The singles were taken first. There were 198 players, competing hi the singles, which are being played oa 11 greens. For .the pairs competition, which will be played on Friday and Saturday, there are 280 entries. For the rinks, which commence 6n Monday, no fewer than 110 teams are competing.
