Washington Conference.

(From the Special Representative of the Australian Press Association.) CHINA AND JAPAN. WASHINGTON, Jan 10. Tokio press messages reaching Washington to-day indicate that Japan is willing to abandon her claim to appoint the Traffic Manager and the Accountant of the Shantung Railway, japan declines, however, to accept China’s cash, offer for the purchase of the railway, contending that China would be unable to pay. Japan, however, will accept a 12-year loan. Another message states that- the Chinese Premier has consented to tlie Japanese terms regarding a loan agreement. Both messages state that instructions have been sent’ to their respective 'delegations.
