The Greymouth Amateur Opera C»y. will arrive by train this evening and 4ive their initial performance of. “A Country Girl” in the Princess Thea tre to-night. The full orchestra, ward-robe, scenery, principals and chorus will present the Opera in the same complete, manner that characterised its produei tion in Greymouth. The overture will ! commence at 7.50 sharp and the pei- ; formance will conclude about 11 p.ui. ! Writing of the final performance a ' contemporary says as follows: The iin- ! al performance of “A Country Girl i was given last night and was a superb 1 production, the principals and chorus I were all at their best, and the audience ! most enthusiastic;. At the conclusion of the performance a huge pile of floral 1 and other tributes was passed up to • the stage, and calls for the producer were so insistent that Air Pollard had to appear. His appearance was the signal for a wonderful manifestation of appreciation by the audience, of the splendid success of the play, and t' eir acknowledgement of the veteran producer’s good work. Prices of admission ! will be ss, 3s and 2s plus tax. The opera will be repeated for the last time • to-morrow (Wednesday).
