BOXING.
AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION. COOK V. CARPENTIER. LONDON, Jan 7. The interest in the Carpentier-Cook match is of the keenest. As the date approaches ,there are many visitors to the respective training camps, who are critically watching both men’s .methods. Though Carpentier is favourite, it is confidently believed that Cook will make a splendid fight. “Sporting Life” thinks that Cook has a very fine chance, being the type of boxer who fights back all the harder each time he is hurt. It adds: “We can imagine him taking a good many of Carpentier’s best punches, and coming back for more. The film of the Dempsey-Carpentier fight showed that Carpentier’s defence is none too good against a man who is a master of infighting. If Cook can only keep with him long enough to land! some hurtful body punches, he will have a- reasonable chance of victory.”
