NOT FAVOURED BY CANTERBURY PRODUCERS. ! BY TELEGRAM—PER PRESS ASSOCIATION T ,r CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 6 At a meeting of meat producers this afternoon, the following motion proposed by Mr G. Gould, and seconded by Mr J. C. N. Grigg, was carried by 2S votes to eight: “That this meeting ofCanterbury farmers, while appiecial-™ ing the efforts of the Government to help them in the present crisis, regard the creation of a national meat pool as a risky experiment, It approves, however, of the setting, up of a producers’ board to advise the Government as to any regulation of trade necessary to secure the more economical handling and marketing of frozen meat.” Messrs J. G. Armstrong and E. Hay were aappointed delegates to the Wellington conference. ,

DUNEDIN FARMERS OBJECT. DUNEDIN, Jan. 6. A well attended meeting of fanners meat producers, and others, held t tonight discussed the meat pool proposals and the following resolution, with a few dissentients, was carried : “That this meeting, after careful consideration of the proposed general pooling scheme for handling and dealing with the frozen meat trade, recommends that the delegates appointed oppose the present ‘ scheme as submitted, but this meeting is prepared to assist and support any sound workable proposal which will tend to place this most important industry on a sounder footing, and which conserves the interests, not only of producers, but of financial' institutions and merchants.”

WANGANUI SUPPORT. WANGANUI, Jan. 6. A largely attended meeting of farmers to-day*, after hearing addresses by Messrs Glenn and Veitcli M.P’s, Mi Poison and others, decided, with two dissentients, to support the meat pool. Messrs E. Parson and R. Farley were appointed delegates to the Wellington Conference.
