SUGAR SUPPLY
WELLINGTON, Dec. 31
Curiously enough there appears,to be a slight shortage of sugar in some towns of the Dominion. It would seem that .merchants, are holding oil' as much as possible in the hope that the price will fall, but of this there seems little or, no prospect. The Government iris big supplies in Auckland, so that there is no excuse for people going short. Among the towns which ran out recently in this tinn? of plenty, was Greymouth, and there are others running on bare, margins through merchants thinking, there is a, possibility of a drop If can be taken for granted, however, that the Government will maintain the price, to enable it to oome out of the contract without loss.
