IUSI HALT AN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION SYDNEY, December 28. The Premier, Mr Dooley to-day announced that the Government intends to meet a deficit of £2,000,000 by increasing the tax on all incomes amounting to over £560 yearly with slight reductions on the incomes under that amount Mr Dooley added that a Bill providing for this will be part of the plat form which the Labour Party would submit to the electors and it would be introduced in the Assembly early in May next.

In view of this statement, it is practically certain that elections will be held early in April.
