The meeting considered in detail the approaching tour of the walking party from Canterbury under the auspices ol the Canterbury League, comprising 50 all told. It was reported the route arrangements bad lieen fairly well completed and that tlic party would arrive j at Hokitika on Wednesday, *2,Stb Dec., jat 10.45 a.in. They will he met at the I Hokitika station by the Executive of j the League, flic Mayor, County Chairman mid others. At 11.30 a.m. the* ■ will be entertained at luncheon in Preston's Tea Rooms, when a formal wel- ; conic will be extended to the visitors, ; alter which they will continue their : lour to Lake KtOtieri and remain several , days at that resort. The question of an . entertainment and lecture to be given | at Hokitika during the stay of the j visitors is to be considered at a meeting i next week.
