I Boppe for the sake of intrigue with a ; girl when stationed! at Epinal, during the war, twice conspired to poison his wife under the guise* of affection, with cyanide. The plot was revealed by children, but the wife* forgave him. Later Boppe shot her twice in bed with a revolver simulating suicidal appearances. The wife was operated upon, but permanently disfigured. She again forgave and- endorsed the story that she attempted suicide.
